Competing at Hayward Field, the venue where she made history by setting the world record in 2022, Amusan crossed the line in 12.34 seconds behind American Masai Russell, who won the race in a world-leading 12.24 seconds. Bahamian hurdler Devynne Charlton completed the podium in 12.41 seconds. Despite narrowly missing out on victory, Amusan once again demonstrated the consistency that has defined her 2026 campaign. She ran a composed race from start to finish, clearing the hurdles cleanly and maintaining her form against one of the strongest fields assembled this season. The result marks yet another podium finish for the Nigerian star as she continues to establish herself among the world’s leading sprint hurdlers. The runner-up finish follows a string of impressive performances on the Diamond League circuit and beyond. In recent weeks, Amusan claimed victories at the Paris and Rabat Diamond League meetings, set a new meet record at the New Taipei Athletics Open in Taiwan, and successfully defended her continental title at the African Championships. Her performances have made her one of the most consistent athletes on the circuit heading into the latter stages of the season. Returning to Hayward Field carried added significance for the 29-year-old. It was on the same track in 2022 that she shattered the women’s 100m hurdles world record with a time of 12.12 seconds before becoming the first Nigerian to win a world title in track and field. Four years on, Eugene once again proved to be a happy hunting ground as Amusan continued her strong run of form. With another podium finish secured, Amusan now turns her attention to the remainder of the Diamond League season, where she will be aiming to build on an already impressive campaign and strengthen her bid for another Diamond League title.
