Multiple award-winning Ghanaian singer and songwriter Gregory Promise Bortey, popularly known as King Promise, celebrated his birthday by giving back to his community through a day of activities focused on charity and community engagement. The initiative, held in partnership with Akwaaba Volunteers NGO and supported by Ecobank Ghana, brought together members of the community to support underprivileged children and youth in Ghana.
On the eve of his birthday, August 15, King Promise kicked off the celebrations with an early morning run alongside the 7 Even Run Club and members of Akwaaba Volunteers NGO. The activity brought together supporters and participants in a display of community, togetherness and goodwill, reflecting King Promise’s commitment to creating a positive impact beyond his music.
The celebrations continued into the evening with a Padel session involving underprivileged children, organised in partnership with Akwaaba Volunteers NGO. The friendly matches provided an opportunity for the children to participate in a shared sporting experience while raising awareness and support for the organisation’s work with vulnerable youth.
As part of the initiative, King Promise donated GH₵30,000 to support the children and the ongoing work of Akwaaba Volunteers NGO. The donation further underscored his commitment to using his platform to create meaningful impact within his community and beyond music.
Reflecting on the initiative, King Promise said, “Turning a year older is a blessing, and I wanted to spend it giving back to the community that has given me so much love. Running with 7 Even Run Club and spending the evening on the Padel court with these kids reminded me what this day is really about showing up for others.”
Akwaaba Volunteers NGO expressed gratitude for the artist’s support, noting that contributions such as this help improve the lives and opportunities available to underprivileged children in its care.
King Promise’s birthday initiative highlights his continued commitment to giving back to his community and using personal milestones as opportunities to support social causes. Through initiatives that extend beyond music, the artist continues to use his platform to create meaningful experiences and contribute to the communities that have supported his journey.
